University Foundation Course
Course Outline
The University Foundation Course has been designed for students who may not have the necessary qualifications to join the first year of a degree, and will give you the opportunity to do so by following this course. Successful completion of this course allows you entry to one of the degree courses offered by KCB in partnership with the University of Chester.
The course will provide the necessary communication, research and academic skills which are required on a degree. Students will be introduced to modules which will give them a solid grounding in a number of disciplines, these will be underpinned by Study Skills for Higher Education. Our considerable experience in running this course has shown that students who progress are high achieves on the degree course they have chosen.
The course is run over one academic year. KCB will enhance the student experience by talks from outside speakers who aside from providing specialist input will also provide valuable careers advice. Our central London location enables us to organise visits to various organisations which will be a feature of the learning experience.
Course Content
The modules will be taught through lectures and tutorials. The tutorials will be in small groups and will focus on developing knowledge, understanding, research and communication. Students will be required to take part in oral presentations, case studies and selected readings in order to enhance their skills as well as nurturing confidence. The subjects are assessed by a combination of coursework and examinations. Individual and group feedback will be given. Each student will be allocated a personal tutor who will act as a mentor during their period of study with us.
